We see a memory of a young girl— Sion Astal —the only person who showed him kindness. Sion, now the king of Roland, is the one who spared Ryner and ordered this mission.
Cut to the royal capital of Roland. Ryner, now chained in a dark prison cell, is visited by a beautiful, cold blonde woman in military regalia: Princess Ferris Eris . She is notorious, nicknamed the "Corpse Princess" for her emotionless demeanor and unmatched swordsmanship.
As enemy soldiers close in, Ryner's right eye glows crimson, and the curse takes over. The screen flashes with chaotic images of magical destruction, implying a massacre. When he comes to, he is surrounded by even more bodies—this time, the result of his own uncontrollable power.
