In an effort to retain players and generate additional revenue, developer Eden Games and publisher Atari released a series of —downloadable content (DLC) that added new vehicles, new events, and occasionally new features to the game. While support for TDU2 was ultimately cut short (canceling promised features like the Speed Pack and bike racing), the Car Packs that did release offered a fascinating glimpse into what could have been.

Released in February 2011, Test Drive Unlimited 2 (TDU2) promised to revolutionize the open-world racing genre. It offered a seamless mix of competitive racing, social clubs, property ownership, and character customization across two massive islands: Ibiza and Oahu. However, the game’s launch was plagued by bugs, server instability, and handling physics that divided the fanbase.

While not always labeled a "Car Pack," the Exploration Pack added designed for off-road traversal—a key new feature of TDU2 (dirt trails and off-road races).
